Communication is essential for successful change management.
A key element to successful change management includes preparing for the change. Strategizing and planning with a clear vision involves implementing a strong communication plan. The power of a communication plan is how it fosters respect across roles, reduce the impact of departmental silos, examine complexities from multiple perspectives, and achieve strategic goals.
With any significant change, pivot or transition it is critical to monitor progress, maintain changes through reinforcement, support analysis and evaluation to inform future initiatives and ensure effectiveness. By creating awareness, assessing readiness, assuring transparency and a clear direction your team is more likely to galvanize around any new initiative.
Training is more than an obligation or the mere checking of a box. It's an opportunity to engage, inform, and make an impact on individuals so that they may grow to support others. Every subject matter expert, trainer and instructor wants to provide high quality training. But to ensure that learning occurs, it's important to have specific and actionable objectives and that the learner is engaged with the material. Training and eLearning should center the learner and be learner FRIEND-ly.
How to work with subject matter experts is essential.
A part of eLearning success hinges on the relationship between the subject matter expert (SME) and the eLearning specialist (eLS). The relationship is like that of a coach and a trainer. While the coach is an expert in the sport, the trainer is an expert in delivering a plan to optimize how the athlete's body performs and functions, ensuring it operates at it's peak. Likewise, a SME focuses on the skills or information that the learner should know or perform, while the eLS focuses on the learner by developing a course that will better ensure that learning will occur.
The collaboration works best when both come to the partnership with curiousity and a desire to enhance the experience of the learner.
